KEVIN HENKES was born in Racine Wisconsin in 1960, one of five children. All Alone, his first picture book, was accepted for publication when he was nineteen. Since then he has written and illustrated a number of popular picture books and written several novels for yound readers. Kevin Henkes studied art at the University of Wisconsin. He lives with his wife in Middleton, Wisconsin, and writes and illustrated full time.
